The Tampa International Airport contracted The Friendly Plumber to build a new 1 billion dollar plus addition at what we call the time and materials rate. This is the highest rate that we charge and we almost never charge a construction customer this rate. In this case, the jobs were done to save a project at the last minute for the general contractor at night in order to get the job completed on time. Every one of our principles were showcased on this job: Honesty in Communication, Partnership with Designers, Craftsmanship, Integrity, Professionalism, Dynamic Field Operations, Safety, and Heritage.
Safety is our number one concern at the TIA. As we are a permanent onsite safety company, every worker must pass a drug test and safety orientation just to walk onsite. The most stringent rules apply to the materials that can be used and the specifications on every fixture, every pipe are exact. For example, in the case of the sanitary piping it all has to be done in cast Iron, which is a material that now all plumber feel comfortable working with nowadays. All the potable lines had to be run in copper. In both cases its for the fire resistance of the overall building.
The Friendly Plumber has also been asked to simply consult on projects that we did not have the time to devote a full crew to completing. This is where master plumber, Martin Steele came into play furnishing his experience to other in an effort to keep the delays to this crown jewel for the Tampa Bay community. After all, we all live in this community and everyone in it deserves to benefit from the heritage of experience that we have here at The Friendly Plumber. In the future we look forward to serving the community at large by completing more TIA build outs.
